Cakes in the Bay started as a natural extension of our family's love of homemade food. As the sister business to Graze in the Bay โ Torbay's artisan grazing experience โ we wanted to bring the same passion for quality, handmade food to our local community in a more accessible, everyday way.
The idea was simple: bake what we love, be honest about what's in it, and sell it from our front garden on the honour system. The honesty shed model has a wonderful community spirit to it โ we leave the shed stocked each Friday morning and trust our neighbours and visitors to do the right thing.
It's been a joy. We've met so many wonderful people through the shed, and there's nothing better than hearing that someone's brownie made their Friday afternoon a little bit better.
We believe good food doesn't need to be complicated or expensive โ it just needs to be made with care.
We use real butter, proper chocolate, fresh eggs and quality flour. No artificial flavourings, no shortcuts โ just proper baking.
Every item is clearly labelled with a full ingredients list and allergen information. We take food safety seriously and hold a Food Hygiene certificate.
The honesty shed is built on trust. We're proud of the community we've built around the shed and the regulars who come back week after week.
We rotate our range regularly so there's always something new to try. Follow us on Facebook to see what's fresh each week.
The shed is at the front of our home at 21 Hartley Road, Paignton, Devon, TQ4 5PQ. You'll see it from the road โ look for the shed and the price board.
